Five community groups have been awarded grants
Responsible Wood Community Grants are awarded for collaborative community-based projects, activities or events that connect communities to Responsible Wood certified forests.
The 2021/22 program supports local communities to connect with their nearby Responsible Wood certified forests, by contributing to projects that have been designed by the community in their local area.
Following the success of the 2020/21 program, applicants were received by community groups connected to Responsible Wood-certified forests across Australia.
In announcing the successful recipients, Community Grants Project Manager Megan Graham reflected on the quality of applications.
“In total we received 18 applications with every state represented. This represents a 50% increase both in total and value of applicants from last year.”
“We are really pleased by the number, quality, and creativity of applications from across Australia.”
Applications were assessed by an expert panel including Dr Hans Drielsma, Chair of Responsible Wood, David Rowlinson, ‘Make It Wood’ Campaign Manager for Planet Ark and Lou Coutts, External Relations Manager for HVP Plantations.
We are proud to announce that the successful projects supported by Responsible Wood include; the installation of nesting boxes in New South Wales schools, the restoration of a heritage hut located on a scenic hiking trail, a forest career pathway program in Gippsland, Victoria, mountain biking in the Adelaide Hills and a farm forestry and wetland rehabilitation project in Denmark, Western Australia.
Are there any additional requirements that successful applicants must adhere to?
Any intellectual property or actual property / items created through the program will remain the property of the group or individual and not Responsible Wood. Responsible Wood will reserve the right to promote the project and market any project outcomes.
Any promotion of the project must acknowledge Responsible Wood and the certified forest grower or chain of custody certificate holder.
